PRESCRIPTION REQUIRED

Finding a good night’s sleep away from home is difficult, and doubly so for travelers who suffer from sleep apnea. Thankfully, the Z1 CPAP machine from HDM makes CPAP therapy a mobile experience. Lightweight, compact and extremely quiet, the Z1 CPAP is a convenient and effective sleep apnea solution for travelers. The trusty Z1 CPAP even delivers sleep therapy off the grid, thanks to its optional PowerShell™ battery pack, which powers a full 8 hours of cord-free therapy.

  • CPAP Therapy On-the-Go

Traveling with a CPAP machine doesn’t have to be a hassle, because the Z1 CPAP is compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand. You won’t have trouble finding a place for the Z1 in your suitcase or carry-on! It’s also one of the lightest CPAP machines available, weighing in at a mere 10 ounces. Small and lightweight, the Z1 CPAP is also one of the quietest machines available – registering only 26 dBA during operation.

This compact Z1 CPAP might be ideal for travel, but it packs a potent punch and is more than capable of serving as an everyday therapy machine. The tiny Z1 CPAP machine can flow 4–20 cmH2O of pressure, satisfying the prescribed levels for most obstructive sleep apnea patients. The Z1 CPAP also utilizes HDM’s comfort-enhancing Z-Breathe™ technology – a proprietary algorithm that lowers CPAP pressure during exhalation based off your breathing pattern.

  • Integrated CPAP Battery Pack

The Z1 CPAP integrates seamlessly with HDM’s PowerShell™ battery pack, which can deliver a full 8 hours of cord-free CPAP therapy. That means campers and outdoor enthusiasts can cut the cord confident of a good night’s sleep, so long as the Z1 + PowerShell gets tucked away in their gear. Multi-day excursions are on the table as well, as extra Z1 battery packs can easily be hot-swapped for extended performance.

Designed and assembled in the USA, the Z1 CPAP is backed by a 3–year warranty. It comes equipped with AC power supply, custom USB cable and drawstring carrying pouch. The Z1 CPAP also includes one disposable filter, as well as one HME Humidification Moisture Exchanger (a waterless humidification solution that connects between the CPAP mask and tube, an HME lasts for 5–7 days before it needs replacement).

Great little machine

I bought the Z1 for a trip to Europe to visit my son. My old ( travel )machine was bigger and bulkier than my Icon that I use at home. It worked great on the plane and thru out my travels overseas and is actually more quite than my Icon at home. There is a little more air noise at the exhaust ( my setting is 17 ) maybe because of the smaller diameter hose, but it didn't bother me at all. The price seems a bit high, but it does the job and leaves you with a lot more space in your carryon.

A great traveling companion

This is the answer to traveling with a CPAP in tow. It fits into my suitcase, Sets up easily, and provides the same breathing therapy I am used to with my larger machine at home. I do not use the humidifier when traveling, with either machine. I recommend the Z1 to anyone who travels.

Great Travel Machine

So, I purchased my Z1 in March of 2015 so I have been using it for 1.5 years of travel. I decided I should give a review because I love traveling with this machine....well, no machine would be better.

The Z1 is small, light, easy to put in a suit case or backpack. I mainly use my machine when traveling and I mostly travel by bicycle, long distances. I purchased this machine just prior to leaving on a bike trip from San Diego to Cabo San Lucas, Baja. Worked perfect. I have used it on numerous several night camping trips also. This year I used it in Spain, another bike trip, for the month of May. In the USA while going through TSA, I took my CPAP out of my backpack and the attendant asked me, What's this? Me: my CPAP. She holds it up and yells to her coworkers, This is the smallest CPAP I have ever seen! She was amazed. I have been on numerous week long bike trips this summer and this unit performs flawless.

You may be asking how I power this up off the grid. I purchased a Battery Power Solutions battery pack. On my setting of 7 cm/H2O I can get 4 nights of use before I have to charge the battery. I can charge the battery on an outlet or I have the solar panel for this battery also, which charges the battery in about 5 hours. I am quite pleased with the unit. Fits right in my panniers or backpack for use on the road. Now, I will mention that the unit is quiet but there is machine noise transmitted up the tube. It doesn't bother me but I know some folks have been very disappointed because of the noise. I chose this unit over the Transcend because the Z1 can be programed without a Windows machine. The Transcend needs a computer for programing. Z1 can be programmed from the buttons on the machine. If you want a light weight, reliable machine, I would recommend buying this unit. If you want a reliable battery for off the grid, look up Battery Power Solutions, very helpful people.

Very Happy!

I bought the HDM Z-1 machine for travel. It is small, and easy to pack. The instructions were very easy to follow. I tested the unit the day it arrived. Works great! I ordered the battery and charging shell. Again, small, easy to use, directions easy to follow. I have an overnight plane trip, and will be able to use this unit discretely, and arrive with a good night of sleep. I recommend this unit.

Wonderful for Travel

Trying to travel with my CPAP in our Class B RV was always an issue with its space limitations. This unit brought things to a more manageable space requirement and the 12 volt DC adapter lets me run off the house battery when we are boondocking, drawing very little current.

Z1 portable CPAP

The most compact portable CPAP device that I could find. Takes up very little room in my luggage and works great. Nearly silent. Very pleased.

Great little machine

This is a great little machine for travel. As you can see, it fits in the palm of your hand, so taking it overseas or for long journeys is so much less cumbersome than the VCR-sized bedside machine. I'm traveling to Vietnam for a two-week tour, and we change locations every night. It is a pure relief to not have to lug the bigger machine with me every day and to slip this little thing into my luggage. It provides great air flow, too.

The Z1 is what it says it is.

I have used the Z1 for a week prior to a coming trip: It has performed well and as advertised. There is a slightly higher level of noise than my regular ResMed apap but both my wife and I have adapted without trouble. The heat/ moisture exchanger seems to work well when used with Biotine mouthwash and gel.

Better than Expected

This machine exceeded our expectations, My wife and I each purchased one, I am a pilot and she is a flight attendant and thus we both travel frequently. In the past we had to leave our home machines because they were simply too bulky to take along due to practical limits on baggage. Both of us are very pleased with this product. The realities of portable machines preclude the inclusion of heat and moisturization in the machine, but that has not been a major problem. Since we both purchased the ResMed nasal mask, the use of the heat/moisture adapter is impractical since the only place to install it in the tubing is 12 inches away from the mask and thus cannot pick up any heat or moisture from the exhaust breath. The only issue is there is more noise at the mask than normal on full sized machines, which is the reason I deducted .5 points. The noise from the actual machine is quite quiet considering it's size.

I highly recommend this machine for anyone who needs CPAP and travels frequently, it's weaknesses greatly outweigh the problem of not having CPAP while traveling.

Awesome product for its size

It is an awesome product for its size. It works great but I remember reading one review that talked about it being louder than the other machines and this is the case. It is louder than my home machine . But I travel alot and this is so much easier to pack and travel with. I would recommend it to anyone. I sleep very well with it

Unbelievable!!!!

I have lugged around heavy, bulky CPAP machines for over 15 years and this little feller is going to totally change my travel requirements. Less luggage and easier carry-on. Great product. I look forward to many years of use!!!!
