BiPAP machines differ from standard CPAP devices by delivering two levels of air pressure and can be a more effective alternative for patients who don't respond well to standard CPAP machine therapy. BiPAP sleep therapy channels higher pressure airflow during inhalation, then reduces to a lower pressure setting during exhalation. This lower pressure setting makes it easier for sleep apnea patients who find exhalation difficult or uncomfortable on a standard CPAP machine. Use of a BiPAP may also be medically necessary for patients requiring higher pressure levels to keep their airway open, or be prescribed for patients with certain respiratory or cardiopulmonary disorders. As with any CPAP-based sleep therapy, it is important to consult with your doctor about prescribed air pressure settings and determine if BiPAP therapy is the best choice. It’s also important for patients to understand that if they are experiencing discomfort with standard CPAP machine therapy that alternative options, like BiPAP, are available and may be worth a conversation with their medical provider. You don’t have to give up on getting a good night’s sleep. Find the solution for your sleep apnea woes from the wide selection of BiPAP machines at Sleep Direct.
